Evening People,

Having been local today working at Accrington Police Station doing the 5 yearly electrical inspection of fuse boards and installations I thought I would pop down and get an update for the club.

There was only four members tonight; Me, Alan, Keith and Matt. Alex is away camping and Peter is working.

  • The turntable over the past couple of weeks has been hard work having been installed, taken up and so on. But finally we have managed to get the thing sorted, secured down and spinning freely. In order to achieve this we have had to strengthen the base with mecano girders.  This has been sorted by Keith, Alex and Peter
  • Alex has now started to ballast the turntable road with a mixture medium ballast and black fine gravel from fizzing hall model railways. This has been laid on top of the tracks and pushed in between the sleepers using a paint brush then using a wet mixture of water and pva glue which is poured over and left to dry. The ballast is then left to dry.
  • Keith has started to ballast the points that Alex wasn’t keen on doing. So these have had the same method as above.
  • I have finally finished off one half of Ramsbottom station that has had new lights. These have all been soldered up tested and put back on the layout.
  • The other half of Ramsbottom Station has now been taken up and the old lights stripped out ready for the new wires and lighting to go in place.
  • 3x motor points have been wired up using 3x different colours with one half being looped.

Some pictures are available to view.

Cheers

Dan
