Bulletin 14th May 2011

Hello all,
I think its time for a good old update complete with pictures to show how the layout is progressing and updates to Bacup Shed.

Roger has made another little stone wall at the end of the new head shunt made from small cork pieces glued together give the feature of s dry stone wall.
Roger has managed to strip all the paint and restore the body to the original clubs ex L&Y class 5 2-4-2T which will now need a new chassis due to the original one being life expired.

Roger has also started a process of removing all the old shrubs and grass from the rear of the Accringtion Lines and main lines, and replacing these with new scatter and sea moss using a pva mix.
Alan has been making progress on Bacup shed by starting to make the shed doors out of peices of balsa wood, painted black and glued in place. This also called for a loco line up poking through the shed. In the next few weeks we should start to see Bacup coming together.

Me and Keith have been sort out the problems with the wiring under the new points which have started to come to life. We have managed to find all the points on the rear up line board but one of the far points on the Stubbins curve is suffering from voltage drop which will receive a new cable next week. We will then start on the down line board.

Alex has been changing a point which has failed since we finished the repositioning of the tracks on the Accrington line, This has since been changed and ballasted.

It has also come to our attention that as a long term project that we will be replacing the rear boards due to their condition. Instead of taking one and stripping it down, we will be making a replacement and build it up so then we can just unplug and plug the new one in. We have one old school desk from aroud the 1950′s which might make a suitable donor….just need another.

No Reece or Make tonight due to work and other commitments. We are also planning on holiding an open evening once all the power is restored and tests are done, so stay tuned for more info on this.

In two weeks time we will be holding our AGM aswell at the club house.

Thanks

Dan
