Bulletin 28th April 2011

I guess you have all heard that song “Oh what a night?” well Wednesday and Thursday evenings were really mind boggling i can tell you.

Being no expert in model railway electrics I thought that it might be simple to mount the boards and reconnect everything….well it wasnt.

On Wednesday evening I had come down to try and mount the boards and hopefully get a few points throwing. By the end of the evening I had managed to mount the two control boards, reconnect up the main line side of the fiddle yard which hadnt had any modifications but the new Accrington area wouldnt do anything. So i thought i would wait for Keith and put our heads together.

Thursday came and so did Keith. We started with the Up rear boards and managed to find an old power feed that had been left in place from when the track was used by the down line. This was removed and power restored to this section. The down line was slightly more trickier with a bit more adding and removing wires which we thought we would need but ended up removing.

This had me, Keith and Alex on this most of the night…..next week will require the points being reconnected…hopefully that bit should be easier.

Since Alex had replaced the light grey ballast with darker the week before, Roger has been painting the hard board a nice fresh shade of black, Added some sea moss to look like bushes along the new retaining wall and has also place green scatter inbetween the tracks to give a different appearence which looks really good.

After that Mark was showing him the art of brass kit building, with rebuilding the old little billy.

Thats all for now
